London Square is proof that Oakland is successfully revitalizing itself. The ships are just across from a busy port with cranes that disembark cargo not far off from cute shops and cafes. The cranes may look familiar. Legend has it that they provided Lucas with the inspiration for the walking tanks at the beginning of the second Star Wars movie. Or is it the third? I forget. They are fascinating. I call them horsies and tried to find the perfect angle but I didn't have a long enough lens to capture the feeling I have when I look at them. You just have to go and see what I mean. |
